Somewhere along the way, all of a sudden it’s the unofficial start of summer. Backdoors stay open, the airiness lingers with longer days, and dinner starts to move outside without much discussion. The first BBQ of the season settles in naturally with something on the grill and a table set just enough to gather ‘round.
MAY NOTES
Summer Entertaining and Outdoor Living
There’s truly something about this time of year that makes everyday routines feel a little softer around the edges. Even everyday grocery runs turn into stops for fresh flowers. Friends linger by the kitchen island while music drifts through open windows. We start reaching for pieces that can move effortlessly between indoors and out: linen cushions carried onto the patio and ceramic serving bowls that look even better filled with something simple yet crowd-pleasing. Worn wood tables somehow make every meal feel a little more memorable, and there’s nothing too fussy that can’t handle a little extra sun or a late evening outside.
Summer Closet Essentials
Getting dressed this summer follows suit. This season we’re all about easy dresses that fall just right, long shorts that feel relaxed and intentional, crisp tops that can be thrown on sans overthinking, and lightweight layers for when the sun finally dips down. Neutrals do most of the work, with the occasional dash of poppy that catches you off guard in all the right ways.
Summer dressing, at least for us, is not as much about having somewhere specific to be, but more so being ready for whatever the day turns into. Think last minute invitations, an impromptu dinner outside or hanging barefoot in the kitchen while something cooks slowly in the oven. We are only taking applications for pieces that move with us from late afternoons into evenings outdoors without asking for much adjustment along the way, save for maybe a different shoe or a few accessory switch-ups. The easier it feels, the more we want to wear it. Explore our go-to pieces this summer that have not failed us!
