AUGUST NOTES

AUGUST NOTES

August has a way of quietly putting things back in order. Your calendar starts filling up again, school is back in session for some, and the wonderfully loose rules of summer begin to give way to something resembling a routine again. We’re returning to earlier mornings, dinners around the table and the small rituals that make a day feel considered rather than simply busy. There’s something satisfying about finding your rhythm again, especially when it comes with a freshly organized desk, a stocked fridge and a reason to finally deal with that pile by the door.

Getting dressed follows this same transitional logic. It’s far too early for anything heavy, but we’re ready for a little more outfit. Lightweight knits come into our rotation with relaxed denim, ballet flats & mules replace sandals, and a silk scarf or leather belt does the rest of the work. We’re especially drawn to chocolate brown, oxblood, western-inspired prints, and warm neutrals right now, the kind of hues that hint at what’s coming without rushing the season too far along.

At home, we’re leaning back into the rituals that make ordinary days better. Setting the table even when no one is coming over. Turning on a lamp instead of the overhead light. Keeping the entryway ready for the morning rush and making the bed before the day gets away from us. After a summer spent happily going with the flow, August reminds us that routine doesn’t have to mean monotony. Done well, it’s simply a collection of small things worth looking forward to doing again.
