POSITION: Social Media Coordinator
Location: Berkeley, CA (Hybrid / On-site)
The Vintage Rug Shop is a boutique home furnishings retailer and e-commerce brand based in Berkeley, CA. We’re known for our curated selection of vintage rugs, furniture, and décor that bring warmth, craftsmanship, and timeless style to every home. Our growing team is passionate about beautiful interiors, quality living, and authentic storytelling.
We’re looking for a creative, highly motivated Social Media Coordinator to grow and nurture our online presence across Instagram, TikTok, and beyond. The ideal candidate has a trained design eye, an intuitive sense for storytelling, and the ability to translate our brand’s aesthetic into engaging, aspirational content. This person will own the day-to-day execution of our social channels—from content planning and creation to community engagement and performance reporting—while helping shape the visual and editorial voice of The Vintage Rug Shop.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, strategize, create, and publish content across all social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, etc).
- Develop and manage monthly social content calendars that align with marketing campaigns, product launches, and seasonal stories.
- Consistently produce thoughtful, high-quality content with exceptional attention to detail, including photography, video, and short-form content.
- Write captions and copy that capture our warm, relatable, design-driven voice.
- Engage with our community daily by responding to comments, DMs, and tags with positivity and authenticity.
- Stay ahead of social and cultural design trends and platform enhancements and creatively adapt them to fit our brand.
- Track, analyze, and report on social performance, providing actionable insights and opportunities for growth, engagement rate, visibility, and audience.
- Organize and maintain creative assets and content libraries.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the marketing, creative, and e-commerce teams to ensure cohesive storytelling.
- Support digital marketing initiatives including email marketing, affiliate partnerships, advertising, influencer partnerships, and special campaigns as needed.
- Participate in all lifestyle photoshoots documenting behind-the-scenes content.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of recent experience managing social media for a lifestyle, home furnishings, interior design, or retail brand.
- A naturally refined eye for design, composition, styling, and visual storytelling
- Experience photographing, video capturing, and styling products and interiors for social media.
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, Edits, CapCut (or comparable video editing software).
- Experience managing and growing Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest accounts.
- Proficiency with Meta Business Suite, Instagram Creator Tools, and social analytics/reporting.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) to manage content calendars, reporting, and creative assets.
- Familiarity with Shopify and e-commerce merchandising is a plus
- Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT/Claude to support real research, brainstorming, content planning, and copywriting while maintaining an authentic brand voice.
- Excellent writing, organization, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A positive, proactive self-starter who enjoys taking initiative, experimenting with new ideas, and collaborating with a small, creative team.
- Ability to work in a creative, ever evolving environment and be open to working nights and weekends, as social media is 24/7.
- Knowledge of Home Décor, Interior Design industry or retail is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both internally with teams and externally with brand partners, followers, customers, and clients.
- Be flexible, responsive, have a great attitude, and think on your feet.
- Must live in the Bay Area with reliable transportation and commute daily to our Berkeley, CA locations.
