Malayer is a city and county located within the province of Hamadan, positioned in north-west Iran Persia. Malayer rugs are named for the region in which they are woven. These rugs place a significance on creating richly detailed borders that often outshine the patterns found within the field of the rug. Malayer rugs were most commonly woven as small scatter rugs and runners, and many of the room-sized Malayer rugs available had been woven on commission. The most common designs found in Malayer rugs are tiny boteh paisley motifs in all-over patterns, which create a quiet charm to their style. Malayer rugs are increasing in value as they are most recently gaining the recognition they deserve - investing in a Malayer is a wise choice!
