Minty Matcha Lemonade

Minty Matcha Lemonade

Our Meyer Lemon Obsession Continues! We decided to turn lemons into lemonade and added some Matcha for a delightful summer beverage. This delicious drink is perfect for impressing your brunch guests. Want to kick it up a notch? Add an ounce of vodka (we did!). We happened to have a nice Matcha that was a gift from Japan, and a bamboo whisk, but don't worry if you don't have these on hand. A high-quality store-bought Matcha will do the trick. Just look for a powder that's bright green in color, and you'll be good to go. Cheers to summer sips and sunny days!

Directions:

Start out by making a simple syrup for the lemonade.  Simmer one cup of water with once cup of sugar until sugar fully dissolves.  Cool to room temperature.  Add 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice and refrigerate.  After simple syrup is cooled add 2 cups of water.  Feel free to add more if the juice tastes too strong.  Meyer lemons tend to be sweeter.

Separately whisk 1 tsp. Matcha powder into ½ cup chilled water.  If you like a stronger Matcha use 1.5 tsp.  If you don’t have a bamboo whisk you can use a handheld milk frother, or even vigorously shake to blend in a mason jar.  The end result should be a nice, deep green liquid.

Pour 1 cup lemonade into glass filled with ice (mix one ounce Vodka into lemonade if you are opting for spiked version).

Layer with Matcha liquid for a pleasant ombre appearance.  We garnished with lemon wedges and mint leaves.  Isn’t she lovely?

Cheers!
