POSITION: Fulfillment Specialist

The Vintage Rug Shop is a boutique home furnishings retailer and e-commerce brand based in Berkeley, CA. We’re known for our curated selection of vintage rugs, furniture, lighting, artwork, and thoughtfully curated home décor that bring warmth and timeless style to every home. We believe every dtail matters—from sourcing one-of-a-kind pieces to creating an exceptional custioner experience when each order arrives to our customer's homes. 

We're looking for an experienced Fulfillment & Logistics Specialist who will take ownership of our shipping and warehouse operations. This person will play a critical role in ensuring every order is fulfilled accurately, packaged beautifully, shipped timely & efficiently, and delivered safely. 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, resourceful, and enjoys creating systems that improve efficiency. They understand that fulfillment is more than just shipping orders—it's an extension of our brand and the tangible process that meets our customer's anticipation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Pick, pack, and ship e-commerce orders accurately and on schedule.
  • Carefully package fragile, oversized, and high-value merchandise to ensure safe delivery and minimize transit damage.
  • Continuously evaluate packaging materials, shipping methods, and fulfillment processes to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and minimize product damage.
  • Optimize carrier selection and shipping methods while balancing cost, speed, and customer expectations.
  • Compare shipping rates and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce fulfillment expenses.
  • Inspect and document merchandise before shipment to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Include handwritten thank-you notes to create a memorable brand experience.
  • Receive, inspect, organize, and store incoming inventory.
  • Ensure each inbound delivery matches the purchase order.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient warehouse.
  • Coordinate & document inventory movement between warehouse and retail locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory locations and assist with inventory counts.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements that make fulfillment faster, more accurate and efficient
  • Communicate proactively with the team regarding inventory discrepancies, damaged merchandise, shipping delays, or fulfillment issues.
  • Comfortable using shipping software & inventory systems (Shopify/USPS/FedEx).
  • Receive & unload incoming deliveries.
  • Unbox/unpack and put away new inventory shipments, monitor damage & breakage, tag new merchandise.
  • Maintain a clean & organized shipping station and stock room/warehouse.
  • Ownership of shipping & stockroom/warehouse maintenance including monitoring stock of shipping items and processing orders for supplies.
  • Accept deliveries at warehouse (Berkeley), must have car and be able to travel between warehouse & retail location.
  • Breakdown boxes, recycling & take out trash.
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • At least 1-2 years fulfillment experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated & reliable
  • Strong organization & computer skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Able to maintain high standards of organization & cleanliness
  • Must be able to climb a ladder as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and walk throughout the workday
  • Team oriented & perpetually positive attitude
  • Knowledge of Excel and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of Shopify a plus
    SALARY + BENEFITS

    This is a part time position with potential to quickly grow to full time or more hours during promotional periods and holiday season.  Starting ~24 hours/week. Workweek is Monday - Friday. Warehouse is located in Berkeley, CA. We offer competitive pay dependent on experience and discounts on merchandise.
