You heard that right! We’re opening a storefront for The Vintage Rug Shop and couldn’t be more excited!!!
The store will be in the historic and popular Temescal neighborhood in Oakland, CA, central to the entire Bay Area! Not only will we sell our curated collection of vintage rugs, the store will also be a whole home experience! We’re aiming to open doors middle of summer!
I’ve dreamed of being a small business entrepreneur since I was a teenager. You’ve probably heard the story already – when I was in high school and college I earned a side income by making jewelry for clothing boutiques in Petaluma and Sonoma. I LOVED the connection these shops had with the local community, and always saw myself in that role later in life. Well, now is later and opening a retail store is quite possibly the most exciting risk we’ve ever taken. And the most terrifying if we’re being honest!
I’m shocked that barely 6 months ago I took the leap from Corporate Finance to run The Vintage Rug Shop full time. And shout out to my husband! Antonio is a 6 on the enneagram (which means he’s basically SUPER risk adverse, ha!). He’s been extremely supportive and is just as excited as I am! He’s doing the heavy lifting with the hard core business stuff, like lease negotiations and insurance and all that jazz. I couldn’t do this without him, he’s basically working two full time jobs between my shop and his corporate day job!
I’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes progress of the space on my Instagram. First up today is a video tour of the entire space! We’re going to be working so hard these next couple months to get the space up and running, and will make many more announcements here on the blog as well! Thank you for helping make this dream of mine happen, and once the store is open I hope to thank each and every one of you in person!!!
And lastly, on a more personal note, it’s weighing on me how much I wish my dad was here to tell him about this, for him to see this dream of mine unfold. Although I can’t help but believe he has a big helping hand in making these dreams come true. I love you dad!
