  • The Most Realistic 3D Rendering Tool you should use to Design your Home

This post is in partnership with Modsy, the most impressive 3D rendering tool you should use to design your home! Modsy is offering all brittanyMakes readers with 20% off their first room design! Use code: brittany20

    You’re welcome!

My first ever introduction to Modsy was this exact time last year when Julia posted about using Modsy to help design their One Room Challenge nursery for their daughter, Polly. I remember being blown away by the 3D rendering, (it was SO realistic!) and couldn’t wait for an opportunity to use their tools! Fast forward about 10 months, I’m visiting with my brother, sister in law, and close friends of ours, when I learned our friend works for Modsy! I got stupidly excited and started spewing about how I was blown away by their renderings, how realistic they were, and in some cases even looked better than the finished space! Our friend asked if I had any upcoming room makeover projects, and it was like the timing just fell into place because we were in the process of moving and I knew I had a lot of makeover projects ahead of me.

A few weeks later I reached out to her and said I was having difficulty picturing the rug I was eyeing for the One Room Challenge space I was working on. I was afraid to buy it if it was too big, especially since the rug was going to be a major investment. We decided this was a fantastic opportunity for a partnership, to show everyone how you can use their services and tools to design a room before you even pull the trigger on buying the pieces for the room. It works so well because everything they do is to scale, so if something doesn’t fit you’re saved the time and effort and money in shipping and returning unwanted product.

Let’s get to it because I really want the photos and renderings to do most of the talking here! Let’s see how our master bedroom looked when using Modsy‘s 3D rendering software to design the space:

OMG, RIGHT??? While the finished space has a few different elements (because I like to put finishing touches in a space while under pressure, ha!) the layout is the same! Truth be told, I wasn’t sure where to place the sconces until I worked with Modsy to move them around and see their best placement! I still can’t get over the renderings, and must Modsy all the things!

So, how does Modsy work? It’s so simple! First, you upload a few photos of your space (and don’t worry one bit about cleaning! Modsy will clean up your space for you when creating the renderings). Then, Modsy will create a to-scale 3D rendering of your space. Finally, once the 3D rendering is ready, you can use their Style Editor tool to make any changes to the layout and design of the room. Modsy has hundreds of products from your favorite retailers which you can use to design your room, and even shop from once the space is complete! You guys, this service is only $49 and with the 20% discount code I’m sharing with you all, you can design your own room using Modsy’s incredible 3D rendering tools for less than $40!

Some folks will want more customization, maybe you have an antique dresser or, in my case, a vintage rug. I worked 1:1 with a designer for this space, and while many of the products were available from their retailers, vintage items like my rug and my pillows weren’t. The great thing about working so closely with a Modsy designer is they are able to create renderings of the one-of-a-kind items I was thinking of using to see if they fit in the space. The 1:1 service they offer is $199 per room, or less than $160 with the discount code.

I still can’t get over how amazing this looks. Not only am I thinking of using this again for personal use, but just imagine you’re starting your interior design business but don’t have the rendering skills to impress your clients. Instead of hiring someone for an expensive salary, imagine using Modsy to substantiate your interior design skills and deliver these renderings to your clients!

Here’s one more view of our master bedroom Modsy rendering. Once that second nightstand arrives I’ll update this post with a side-by-side!

This service is truly incredible, and I can’t recommend it enough. Don’t wait to give it a try! Using our code brittany20 to get 20% off, you can get a 3D model of your room with 360 degree visualization, 2 custom designs and unlimited revisions, a $20 credit towards any merchandise you purchase through Modsy, all for less than $40.

    1. Wow! This is an amazing tool! Not cheap, but the quality of the renderings is so on point that for a client presentation this would be valuable! I’m just starting out in interior design, and I have friends who are ‘clueless and bored’ by choosing furniture, (their words), but they’ve just bought a gorgeous 4 million (!!) dollar house that they have no idea how to furnish – this app might be just the ticket for me to be able to show them how beautiful their house could look if someone (ahem, me, ahem) with vision designs it for them!

Thanks for sharing this, I will bookmark it for future use!

      1. I completely agree! This app proves so much value for interior designers who either run a solo shop or may need a program like this to lean on. I don’t think it’s an expectation for a successful interior designer to also be a master at CAD or other rendering softwares. Honestly it’s great to know there’s a program like this that can support the interior designer enthusiast as well as the professional. and $4 million, hot damn!

    2. Hi Brittany,
Wow, I am so glad I stopped by today to see what you are doing!
This is an amazing tool and so important for any interior design business. I know that CAD is very common, but not all interior designers need to use Auto Cad for single rooms and renderings, plus It’s just too expensive! I love this alternative offered by Modsy, and its price point is great for everyone from the beginner to the experienced. As an interior designer, I feel it is becoming more and more common and important to offer my clients a rendering of their space. Bookmarked!

    3. just an FYI I went to use your promo code for modsy earlier this week and it wouldn’t take! I tried several times before googling and finding another code to put in. perhaps it’s expired or just a fluke, but just wanted to pass along. Eager to see how my room turns out and appreciate the tip!

        1. This service is awesome! I’ll be moving into a new home soon and I’m having trouble figuring out the new layout. Desperate to try it.
Just tried the code but it says it expired :(

    4. I didn’t know tools like this existed! The results of those renders are actually gorgeous. I’m currently doing an internship in a 3D rendering company, and I have to say I’m feeling tempted to show this to my boss! We may find a very good use of modsy if he likes it, we’ll see… Thanks a lot!

    5. How does a solo interior designer like myself, connect with Modsy for projects? Do I need to purchase the individual packages through Modsy for each client? Or is the program available to the industry? Thanks in advance!

    6. First of all I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do
not mind. I was interested to find out how you center
yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had
a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there.
I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to
be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips?
      Thank you!
