Alright folks, week 4 has proven to be a hairy one. Before I give you an update on my ORC progress, we have a very unusual update to share with you today.
Due to the multitude of natural disasters hitting our country – the fires in Northern California, the hurricanes in Florida, and floods in Texas – the final reveal of the One Room Challenge has been extended 1 week later. The final reveal will be held on Wednesday 11/15, with the guest participant reveal on Thursday 11/16. Mark your calendars for both days! There are over 220+ guest participants in the Thursday challenge and both days will be extremely exciting for all! I cannot express my relief to get one additional week for this project. These natural disasters have affected product lead and delivery times for everyone participating in the challenge this season and a little extra time is a relief.
Back to the progress of our master bedroom – we scheduled our electrician this week to install our light fixtures as well as our contractor to install our wall paneling… and things got a little out of hand. Our 1950’s home has “vintage” electrical (ha!) and required major upgrades in order to meet code. I was hoping to be installing our Metrie Complete Pre-painted Shiplap this week, but instead we had to take our walls apart. I can’t tell you how disheartening it is to have to take steps backwards this late in the game.
This week I wanted to share with you some of the sponsors and products I chose for my ORC space. If you’re already familiar with the ORC, then you know there are some fantastic companies who sponsor the ORC, yet not all sponsors will be a perfect fit for each designer. This explains why you’ll see some sponsors with one designer and others with another. We choose who we want to work with from the list of sponsors based upon the best fit for the space we’re making over.
In our master bedroom, I’m working with Annie Selke for bedding and linens, Article for accent seating, Basset Mirror for table lighting, Craftmade for our ceiling fan, Emtek for our door hardware, Farrow & Ball for the master bathroom wallpaper, Hayneedle for our clothing storage, Lamps Plus for our bathroom lighting, and The Mine for our bed and nightstand furniture. Other items I’m bringing in on my own dime include the vintage area rug, cafe sconces from Lucent Lightshop, and of course all the professional labor for installation. I created a Pinterest board specifically for all items I’m using in our ORC space so you can find them easily!
We’re including the adjoining bathroom in this project, and in the process of upgrading our electrical we got our new pendant lights hung. We’re waiting for the mirror to arrive, the wall paper should be hung next week. It doesn’t seem like much but this progress is exciting!
Yesterday our walls were patched back up, and if all goes well, vertical shiplap will be hung today! Crossing my fingers and toes.
